WHAT DO FRIENDS DO?
Friends are a group of volunteers from the school community that organise events throughout the school year to raise money to help enrich the learning of the children. We meet half-termly, varying the time each meeting is held to try and give everybody the opportunity to attend. Over the course of this year we have raised money in a multitude of ways, including:
- 50p Friday – different parents each week are asked to bring in 12 small homemade (where possible) cakes to be sold on Friday after school. It’s a great little fundraiser and the children get very excited to see what yummy bakes are there each week.
- Pumpkin Party
- Christmas Cards – designed by pupils
- Pub Quizzes
- Easter Egg Hunt
- The Village May Fair
This money has been used to provide transport for school trips and Federation Days, classroom resources, music lessons, Forest School activities and IT equipment such as iPads (for the main school & pre-school) and interactive whiteboards! We also organise and sell second hand uniform which is co-ordinated by Jess Andrews.
As well as fundraising we are also here to help. We have all been in your shoes and remember how strange starting school can seem and that you may have questions that need answering. We do hope that we can help you and your children settle in to school life.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Come to our meetings – Check the ‘Diary Dates’ section or keep an eye on the notice board or our Facebook page
Make cakes for 50p Friday when it’s your child’s name on the rota – If you’re willing to sell them please let Sarah know.
Offer to help out at events – Are you willing to paint nails? Hide Easter Eggs? Sell raffle tickets? Make teas and coffees etc?
Suggest new ways of raising money – Richard and Rebecca Robinson (Millie and Arthur’s parents) have hosted some very successful pub quizzes at the White Horse which not only raise lots of money but are also great fun!
